Student Policies and Procedures

The University's Senate approved the following student-facing procedures for implementation from 1 August 2012:

These procedures have been revised or developed by the Governance Services Unit (GSU) consulting widely across the institution. They seek generally to remove unnecessary layers of consideration and to devolve responsibility, when appropriate, to a more local level. The procedures are intended to be internally consistent and as plainly worded as the complexity of their respective processes allows.

The documents setting out the procedures are available here and are accompanied by supporting material below

The supporting material comprises:

General

Student Disciplinary Procedure

Academic Misconduct Procedure

Fitness for Professional Practice Procedure

  • Frequently Asked Questions (to follow)

Academic Appeals Procedure

Student Complaints Procedure

In addition, a Fitness for Study Procedure, developed by the Student Life Directorate, has been approved by Senate for implementation from 1 August 2012.  This is an intervention procedure for students causing significant concern and/or presenting risk of harm to self or others.
