Student Policies and Procedures

The University's Senate has approved five new or revised student-facing procedures for implementation from 1 August 2010:

These procedures were revised or developed by the Governance Services Unit (GSU) after commissioning external legal advice and consulting widely across the institution. They seek generally to remove unnecessary layers of consideration and to devolve responsibility, when appropriate, to a more local level. The procedures are intended to be internally consistent and as plainly worded as the complexity of their respective processes allows.

The documents setting out the procedures are being made available here and are accompanied by supporting material used in general awareness-raising and specific training sessions during June and July 2010.

In addition, a new Fitness for Study Procedure, developed by the Student Life Directorate, has been approved by Senate for implementation from 1 August 2010.  This is an intervention procedure for students causing significant concern and/or presenting risk of harm to self or others.
